Lily
Lily was born in captivity in 2004 to a WC female who was captured gravid in Guyana, South America at Ricky and Stela Duffield's facility, Exotic Reptiles Jungle, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
When I saw Lily, I wanted her! She has one of the most beautiful reverse stripe tails I've ever seen on a Guyanese BCC and the aberrant saddles to accompany it. But, it was not to be. Jered Ewy was able to pick her up. Jered spent over 4 years raising her up in a meticulous manner and due to military obligations, had to let her go from his collection in late 2008/early 2009. My opportunity to bring this beautiful girl into my collection was right in front of my face again! And this time I wasn't letting anyone beat me to the punch.
I named this boa "Lily" because I wanted to keep the flower theme going with my females and her reverse stripe reminded me of a calla lily. Sometimes it's just that easy!
Lily arrived in FANTASTIC shape, just in time to have missed my cycling season. While in quarantine, I gave her a shortened cycle and once she proved her health, she joined the rest of the collection. Later that year would be the start of her first breeding season. I didn't expect much, given that she had only recently joined my collection but I thought I'd try and see what happened. I put my best breeder on her; Mr. Incredible. He went to work on her right away. One month later: nothing. Two months: nothing. Three months: nothing... and, Mr. Incredible was starting to wear out. So I put Mr. Damn! in with them to spur on the breeding. It worked! The two males went crazy, pushing each other around and jockeying for position for quite some time. I wanted Mr. Incredible to sire the litter so I eventually pulled Mr. Damn! out. Finally, over 5 months after placing Mr. Incredible with Lily, she ovulated. Several months later, she had a small litter that showed the impact of her recent stressful move to Florida. 7 healthy babies and some slugs.
Lily had the 2010-2011 season off and may be ready to go again the following year.
I'm going to offer some of the babies from her first litter for sale in the first half of 2011. If you'd like to be notified when they're available, please let me know by emailing me your first and last name at jebrady03@gmail.com
